For Immediate Release
NTS Solar, located in Weymouth, MA (www.nts-solar.com), with the assistance of Thermal Sales, their New England sales representative, is proud to announce that New England Institute of Technology (www.neit.edu), located in Warwick, Rhode Island has selected the NTS Performance Series 20 (PS 20) solar collector for use in the solar technologies curriculum of the Associate in Science Degree, Plumbing, Heating, Refrigeration and AC Technology program.
NEIT began incorporating renewable and sustainable technologies as part of their curriculum in 2008. These renewable technologies include photo-voltaic panels (PV) and wind turbines for the generation of electricity, bio-fuel for heating, and now, solar-thermal collectors for hot water, heating and, ultimately, air conditioning. The NTS Solar PS 20 collector was chosen because the NARVA evacuated tubes used in this collector - and all NTS Solar
collectors - represent the most advanced evacuated-tube technology currently available. The tubes are made by NARVA Trade Solartechnik GmbH (NTS Solar’s sister company), located in Brand-Erbisdorf, Germany.
NARVA, a manufacturer of fluorescent lighting products for over 40 years, has utilized and capitalized on their expertise in glass production, glass-to-metal-seal technology and vacuum technology for entry into the renewable energy field. The NARVA evacuated tube truly represents a new generation of vacuum technology. This evacuated tube design is so unique it was awarded the European OTTI award for innovation at the 18th Solar Energy Symposium held in Bad Staffelstein, Germany.
The NARVA tubes incorporate a highly transparent low-iron glass from NARVA’s glass manufacturing facility, a single wall tube (as compared to the more traditional double wall tube), a copper absorber coated with titanium oxy-nitride (TiNOX®) and a patented glass-to-metal seal that is central to the long-term maintenance of the vacuum (warranted for 10 years). The combination of these state-of-the art technologies in tube design, along with the easy-to-install and easily maintained PS 20 collector, make the incorporation of this technology into the NEIT curriculum a logical choice.
